AL CRAWFORD - PRESIDENT AND PRINCIPLE DESIGNER
Al has worked as a lighting designer extensively in many areas of the visual and performing arts including dance, theater, opera, corporate and social events and themed entertainment. He is enjoying his tenth season as the Lighting Director for the Alvin Ailey ® American Dance Theater and also designs extensively for the company. He has designed numerous high profile works such as Judith Jamison’s Love Stories with Rennie Harris and Robert Battle, Double Exposure for the Lincoln Center Festival and scenic and lighting designs for HERE…NOW. , a work commissioned by the Cultural Olympiad at the Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games.
Al also enjoys designing projects such as corporate and social events, themed dinners and architectural installations. Clients include companies such as Jazz at Lincoln Center, XM Radio and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Some of Al’s favorite collaborators have been choreographers Melissa Hayden, Judith Jamison, Mark Dendy, Hope Boykin, Abdur-Rahim Jackson, Matthew Rushing, Uri Sands, Durrell Moultrie, Jessica Lang, Francesca Harper, Troy Powell, Doug Varone, Rennie Harris and Robert Battle.
Al has had the opportunity to work all over the globe taking him to 48 states and over 27 countries. It is this diversity of travel that has allowed him to discover his enjoyment of touring large-scale productions overseas in a wide variety of venues.
Recently, Al has enjoyed speaking to student designers about repertory touring and lighting design at the North Carolina School of the Arts, Northern Illinois University and the Gilbert Helmsley Lighting Internship Seminars.
Current projects include a new ballet for Earl Mosley for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, a variety of cooperate galas and fundraisers as well as concerts including musical artists such as Clay Aiken, Vanessa Williams, Oleta Adams and Musiq Soulchild.
Al is excited and honored to be the President of the Board of Directors of HopeBoykinDance.
Al is a graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts. He is a member of United Scenic Artists (USA-829) and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE Local-635).

THE TEAM
STUART NELSON - ASSOCIATE DESIGNER
Stuart was born and raised in North Carolina and is now a theatrical lighting designer in New York. Much of his time is spent as the associate lighting director for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. With AAADT Stuart has traveled abroad to Dresden, Copenhagen, Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore, Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, St Petersburg, London, Birmingham, Bradford, Nottingham, Glasgow, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Salford, Paris, Antwerpen, Parma, & Milan.
When not galavanting around the world, Stuart enjoys freelance design and creating in all staged creations. dance, drama, opera, musical, concert, installation, etc. He also spends a good portion of his time drafting light plots for others.
He also enjoys designing and engineering lighting systems for new constructions. He is a former member of the PRG systems group where he drafted the lighting systems for the Wynn Las Vegas casino/resort. Feel free to ask stuart to specify the lighting system for your new performance or retail space.
Stuart is a graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts and is member of United Scenic Artists Local 829.

NIKLAS ANDERSON - ASSOCIATE DESIGNER

Niklas started his career as a lighting designer at age 6 while watching his mother perform. Eager to prevent Nik from pestering him any more, the lighting designer finally let him him push a button or two. Ever since that fateful day he has never been too far from the theater. Thanks to globetrotting parents he has lived in Italy, Iran, Denmark, before settling in the US.
Nik’s lighting design experience has run the gamut from the intimate down town venues of NY, to cavernous conventional hall’s, and even a roller rink. He has lit such notables as Tony Bennett, Wyclef Jean, Sean Combs and Bill Cosby. Additionally he has worked for Theatre Projects Consultants on several projects including the Overture Performing Arts Center, Bard College, Williams College, and Notre Dame.
When not designing Nik spends his time under water Scuba diving. Niklas is a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829.

Kerry Crawford is a Modern Dance graduate from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Having been a dancer since age 4, she has maintained her passion for dance and theater throughout her life. She grew up in and around the theater and doesn’t see an end to that any time soon.
Kerry began her business and production career in the pharmaceutical industry. She worked for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals as a Senior Tradeshow Strategy Manager where she managed both sales and marketing teams and their multi-million dollar budgets at hundreds of pharmaceutical tradeshows. Kerry planned the tradeshow strategy for up to 9 marketing teams each year at 30-40 individual conventions; managed the travel, duties, and movements of thousands of representatives; presented plans and ideas to Senior Executives; and managed million dollar budgets during her time at Pfizer.
To develop her sales and marketing skills, Kerry then moved to the creative and business development side of the pharmaceutical industry where she worked as a Director of Business Development and maintained up to 20 Pfizer Marketing Teams as clients.
Currently, Kerry works in the event production industry as an Associate Producer. In this capacity, Kerry uses all the skills she acquired as a sales rep, business development director, tradeshow manager, and dancer to produce large-scale events for Fortune 500 companies. The theater elements of the event production industry are what keep her passionate and energetic about her job. She is married to Lighting and Event Designer, Al Crawford.

Kortney’s has worked in a variety of performing arts disciplines as a freelance production assistant. In addition to ARC3 Design, she has recently enjoyed working with MJM Creative and the Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation.
Kortney also enjoys photography and working in the live event industry.
